1. Who We Are

Finance Atlas ("we", "this site") provides free educational financial calculators for South African users. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the site, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and Google's publisher policies.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser. The figures you enter — vehicle prices, budgets, deposits, interest rates — are never transmitted to our servers, stored, or shared. We do not require accounts, do not collect names, email addresses, ID numbers or financial records, and do not operate any database of user information.

3. Advertising and Cookies (Google AdSense)

This site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites across the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site. A current list of vendors serving through Google's network is available in Google's publisher documentation.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (via the Google tag) to understand overall traffic patterns — total visits, popular pages, referring sites, and country-level location. Google Analytics is switched off by default: it only stores measurement cookies after you grant analytics consent through the consent bar (by choosing Accept all, or Manage with analytics switched on). If you reject or leave analytics switched off, Google Analytics runs without cookies and your visit is measured in aggregate only, using Google's Consent Mode.

When analytics consent is granted, Google sets first-party cookies (such as a visitor identifier) on this site to count visits and distinguish new from returning visitors. This data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy, and we use it only to improve the site's content and calculators — never to sell or profile you. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time: clear this site's data in your browser and make a different choice on the consent bar, and you can also review Google's practices at Google's "How Google uses information from sites that use our services" page.

5. Managing Cookies

When you first visit, a consent bar at the bottom of the page lets you choose how cookies are used, and you have three options. Accept all allows personalised advertising and analytics cookies. Reject non-essential keeps advertising and analytics cookies switched off — the site still works fully, and you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised. Manage lets you switch advertising and analytics on or off separately, and saves that combination as your choice.

Your choice is remembered on this device and browser. To change it later, clear this site's data in your browser settings (which removes the stored preference) and the consent bar will appear again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking advertising cookies does not affect the functioning of the calculators on this site.

6. Children

This site provides financial information intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly process personal information of children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site or applicable regulations change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
